i absolutely loved this! marina & the diamonds and lana del rey are two of my favorite artists! the electra heart persona will always be iconic ♡ and definitely gonna check out cindy sherman’s work!

I’ve enjoyed Sherman’s work ever since I learned about it in college.
I don’t THINK she was a direct influence, but when I was first learning photography, I liked to take these really dramatic self-portraits of myself. While there was plenty of early twenties angst behind them, I also really enjoyed thinking of myself as a character and kind of making the guy in front of the lens look like they were going through it.
In one particularly corny one, I was pretending to light a cigarette from a small blue flame in my hand that was hand sanitizer lit on fire 😂
